We are proud of our unique Sunday School program at Southeast Pierre United
Methodist Church.

Children of all ages are welcome to attend Sunday School, and Sunday School isn't
divided into groups according to age differences.  All children who attend Sunday School
are taught together in one room.  Children of all ages learn by helping one another, and
they also learn to communicate and interact with children who are not in their age group.

We don't use any specific Sunday School lesson book at SEPUMC.  We believe in
making learning
FUN!   The sounds of children laughing, singing, reciting Bible verses,
and even using power tools to make crafts can be heard throughout the community room
in the church.

An example of our
unique Sunday School lessons is: This past spring our students
studied about the birds of the Bible, and they also learned Bible verses about birds.  For
several weeks, their craft project was to learn how to construct a bird house.  Each
student was given the materials to construct their own bird house.  Children not only
learned about the birds in the Bible, they also learned how to use saws, hammers and
nails, and drills.  A laminated Bible verse was attached to the bottom of every bird
house.  The children were so proud of their bird houses, and even more proud when they
took them home and their parents helped them attach them to a tree.  Many of the bird
houses are now home to nesting birds.

Our Sunday School teacher is Steve Stewart.  He makes his own lesson plans and is
assisted by Barb Lindbloom. Gerri Cass and Mary Wagner help our Sunday School
students praise God with music.
